I own the HugoTT2/M-Scaler combo. I only use the units with headphones of which I have several. My most recent purchase was of a pair of Dan Clark Audio Aeon 2 Noire Planars. I have now changed the gain setting on the TT2 to high gain. The DCs clearly perform better as a result and sound marvellous, as do my Utopias and Sennheiser HD800S. My only slight concern is that my many DSD tracks now play as PCM705 kHz through the M-Scaler. There may be sound technical reasons for this, but I am not entirely convinced the M-Scaler is quite as effective in fulfilling the potential of DSD tracks as those in PCM format.
